Enterprise Franklin is continually gathering statistics, generating and enhancing maps which support and highlight the equine sector. The latest map is below and it indicates the businesses that rely upon the equine sector either directly or indirectly. Once we overlay this map upon the Land Use Map – which highlights all the equine properties in Franklin - we will have a fantastic visual of the equine industry as a whole. The Land Use Policy now includes provision for Rural Pathways to be incorporated into future subdivisions. This is an exciting development which will ensure that the equine sectors specific needs are considered and developed. Support from the Franklin District Council has been outstanding. Enterprise Franklin continues to support the landowners in the Franklin District wishing to initiate the Rural Pathways Network throughout Franklin and Auckland. Liaising with Council to assess direction and development of proposed amendments to the existing Land Use Policy has been of utmost importance. Enterprise Franklin envisages that the Rural Pathways Network will become a fundamental asset to the Rural integrity and continued development of the Equine sector within Franklin. Continued development at Byerley Park is guaranteed to stimulate the Franklin economy. Projected 2010 employment figures are and will continue to exceed expectations. Proposed future expansion will ensure the prosperity of this property and its vision to be a “World Class Training Facility” For further information please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Background In 2009, Enterprise Franklin received funding from the Ministry of Social Development to work with the equestrian community to facilitate the development of a hub of equine activity around the Byerley Training Track in Karaka. The development of this hub will enable trainers to locate at Byerley Park and have access to shared facilities. It will also enable the establishment of state of the art training facilities not yet seen in the Auckland region. Byerley will act as a catalyst for the establishment and growth of this hub.
Enterprise Franklin is working with the Franklin District Council to develop policies that will encourage the development of shared facilities and infrastructure for the equine community such as a Rural Pathways network across the district.
